The Name Game III

This is going to be a tough one. I've stopped and started this a thousand times. I'm not really sure how to write this or what to write. It's a subject that I have never talked about before and certainly never blogged to the masses. If you can call the 5 followers 'the masses'

It's now time for the fnal chapter in Kaylee's Name Game. The Lee of Kaylee comes from my grandmother on my mom's side, Minnie Lee (isn't that cute) I would have loved to name her Minnie.. but well you know, Walt kinda ruined that for us!

My grandma died in 1974. Three years before I was born. How do you write about someone you have never met? How do you put into words how much you miss someone you've never spoken to or how much you feel cheated out of a realtionship that never existed.

The best I could do is to share a poem that I wrote for my mom about ten years ago.

The One Who Rocked You

I never met her, but

I've seen her in your eyes.

I never hugged her, but

I've felt her in your touch

I never knew her, but

I was surrounded by her presence.

And, I never had the chance to make her proud, but

I saw that in your smile.

When she taught you right from wrong,

she taught me.

When she protected you from harm,

she protected me.

When she showed you the grace of God's love,

she showed me.

And, when she passed on to you her virtues,

she passed them on to me.

So, my daughter will see her in my eyes

She'll feel her in my touch

She'll know her in my smile

And, she'll learn from me her love.

And we all should be thankful for

the laughs we've shared

And we all should be thankful for

the lessons we've learned

And we all should be thankful for

the love that was true

And we all should be thankful for

The one who rocked you

and to share a picture. We had no idea when we named Kaylee, just how much she would look like her!

  1. That is spooky! (In a good way)

Nicely put ... that poem always makes me teary-eyed. (Again, in a good way)
