Apparently, beginning the first day of school puts a child on the fast track to 'grown-up-hood'. Our little Abby started pre-school today. Last night I put out her first day outfit (one purchased weeks ago in anticipation for this day)and the backpack was ready. Although nothing was in it, because really what does a preschooler actually need to carry around. But, she wanted it, and it was cute. More importantly, it was on sale! But then the unexpected happened. The little girl I put to bed woke up a big girl all ready to take on the world.
This is how our morning went:
Ok Abby, let's put your new dress on.
I don't want to wear that.
You don't want to wear it?
No, I want to wear something else. I'll wear that another time.
But, we bought it just for this.
I don't really feel like it today.
And I want to wear my boots.
Your boots?
Yea, my boots?
Your BLACK Army style boots with your brown dress?
Yup
ok.. now are you ready?
WAIT! I forgot my purse.
YOUR PURSE?
uh huh.
What's in your purse?
My cell phone.

Abby Lynn, you are such a smart girl. You're going to have to tell Lauren & Sadie all about how to be a good girl in school! We love you.
ReplyDeleteAunt Stacey and all your cousins.
She is talking about the poster we made in China at the orphanage. We had all the kids cover their hands in paint and we made a big rainbow out of their handprints. She likes looking at that picture.
